If you are a woman who enjoys engaging in spiritual growth with a small, intimate group of 8-12 spiritual sisters, then the Women’s Bible Study is just the group for you. The Women’s Bible Study was established over twenty years ago in the 1990s, due to the popularity of a study series called “Disciple.” That study experience was church-wide, but a few of the women in the church really missed it when it ended. As a result, the Women’s Bible Study was born.
The group is structured somewhat like a class, in that we read from several translations of scripture and other sources. We then meet together on Wednesday afternoons to talk about our thoughts and experiences. We also use a woman-centered workbook to guide participants through different scriptures and topics that we feel draws them into a deeper relationship with Christ. Everything that we do is substantiated first and foremost by the Bible.
In addition to that, we commit to a daily prayer practice to help us center our thoughts on God.
This group is just another amazing way to give and receive support, friendship and love within the Taylor Church setting. It is also not a static group, but one that seeks to minister to the needs of each woman who is a part of it. These needs change over time, so the group grows and evolves along with its members.
When you join the Women’s Bible Study group, several things will happen for you. First of all, you will get to know God better, and will develop more of an understanding of how the Holy Trinity works. You will also experience Him on a deeper level, which leads to a feeling of security and peace that comes with becoming deeply aware of God’s presence in your everyday life. You will come to love God and each other more deeply, which is the main reward of participating in the Women’s Bible Study. When you are able to love more deeply, you are able to give and receive more fully. This creates an environment where love and support flow freely in every direction, all the time. Who wouldn’t want to be part of something that special?
In order to maintain the cozy atmosphere of a small group setting, the Women’s Bible Study group only invites women to join when the number drops below 12 regular participants. However, if you have an interest, please keep an eye on this space, and on the Taylor Church website in general, so you will see any bulletins about the group. You do not have to be a member of the church to join, as we sometimes invite friends and family of Taylor Church members to join.
By visiting the ‘Ministry’ section of the website, you can browse a list of books that we have studied in the past, as well as what we are studying now, if you would like to prepare for a future opening by engaging in a little study of your own.
The group is facilitated by Sheila Foster, Bettye Aikens and Barbara H. Johnson. We meet at the church library Wednesday afternoons from 3:00 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. It is a weekly meeting, but we will be taking a break for the month of August, to resume again in the fall. That is when we will begin studying The Parables of Jesus by John MacArthur.
