CALL TO WORSHIP: Worship Leader and Congregation

Leader:  Scattered seeds, emerging seedlings…

People:  We all are welcome here.

Leader:  Youngest  children, rugged shepherds, mighty rulers…

People:  We’re here to worship God.

Leader:  In the love of Christ, created anew…

People:  We gather to worship and remember.  Amen.

OPENING PRAYER:

God of Power and might, you have laid hands on us and called us each By name.  Like Saul and David before us, we need your hand to anoint and guide us.  Like seeds that are scattered on the ground, we need your nourishment to grow and flourish.  Anoint us, Holy One, and guide us.  Feed us and strengthen us, that we may grow in your grace and walk in your ways.  In your holy name, we pray.  Amen.

PASTORAL PRAYER – LORD’S PRAYER:

Our Father, who art in heaven hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.  For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION: Worship Leader and Congregation

When death comes, lift us out of grief and renew our trust in your resurrection.  When tragedy strikes, ease our sorrow and renew our hope in new beginnings.  When trouble threatens strengthen our faith and help face our doubts.  When we cling to death, tragedy, or trouble, forgive us and reclaim us in your mercy.  Redirect us, as you redirected Samuel, to focus on life, to listen to you, and to follow your lead.  In your holy name, we pray.  Amen.

WORDS OF ASSURANCE: Worship Leader

Let God grant the desires of your heart and fulfill all you plans.  For in Christ, we are all part of God’s new creation.  The old things are going away, for new things have arrived.  Amen.

SCRIPTURE READING: John 21:2-6        Pastor Anthony Jenkins, Sr.

Simon Peter, Thomas called the Twin, Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two others of His disciples were together. Simon Peter said to them, “I am going fishing.” They said to him, “We are going with you also.” They went out and [aimmediately got into the boat, and that night they caught nothing. But when the morning had now come, Jesus stood on the shore; yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus. Then Jesus said to them, “Children, have you any food?” They answered Him, “No.” And He said to them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast, and now they were not able to draw it in because of the multitude of fish.
