CALL TO WORSHIP:  Worship Leader and Congregation

Leader:  Jesus calls, inviting us in.

People:  Holy, holy, holy God, we gather as your children.

Leader:  The Spirit calls, inviting us to listen.

People:  Holy, holy, holy Christ, we sit at your feet.

Leader:  The Father calls, adopting us as family.

People:  Holy, holy, holy Spirit we come to worship. Amen.

Holy Spirit as we gather in your presence, blow through this space and to our lives, that we may sense your presence in and among us. As we sing your praise, reveal your glory to us, that we may discover the gift of humility in our time of worship. As we listen for your word, speak to our hearts, that we may hear your call. In your holy name, we pray.  Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.  For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION: Worship Leader and Congregation

Forgive us Spirit of truth, when we neglect your wisdom or close our minds   to your call. Forgive us, Spirit of love, when we neglect the needs of your world or harden our hearts to the needs of mercy and compassion. Forgive us, Spirit of God, when we neglect your guidance or close our spirits to your presence. Blow where you will, Spirit of freedom, but please blow through our lives. Open our minds. Open our hearts. Open our spirits, that our spirits may blow through your world with love, compassion, justice and truth. In your Holy Spirit, we pray. Amen.

We are so loved that God gave Jesus Christ to reveal and bring us eternal life. We are so loved that Christ sent the Holy Spirit to reveal God’s constant presence. We are loved. We are forgiven. We are saved in this forgiving love.  Amen.

SCRIPTURE READING – Matthew 7:24-27 – Pastor Anthony Jenkins, Sr.

24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house;       and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. 26 “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: 27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”
